Law No. 13 amends law No. 21 of 1989, regarding marrying foreigners.
Law No. 21 regulates the entry, exit and residency requirements of expatriates, namely migrant workers, in Qatar. This law has since been amended by Law No. 1 of 2017 and Law No. 13 of 2018.
The purpose of Ministerial Decision No. 4 is to regulate the Wage Protection System according to the labour law, requiring employers to make salary payments within seven days of their due date.
Similar to Sultan's Decree No. 72 of 1991, Law No. 7 was enacted to ensure the implementation of a mandatory health insurance system of basic health services to all Qatari citizens, GCC citizens, residents and visitors. The employer is held responsible for payment of health insurance premiums for non-Qatari employees and members of their families while sponsors are responsible for payment of those premiums for sponsored individuals.
