EU launches a cooperation with Morocco allocating €152 million comprehensive programme on migration will strengthen Morocco's border management actions in the fight against smuggling networks, the National Strategy of Morocco on Immigration and Asylum,  as well as the voluntary return and the reintegration of migrants to their countries of origin, in accordance with international standards in terms of Human rights.

New Short-Term Work Authorization

The labor authorities in Morocco have launched a short-term work authorization (STWA) which allows foreign nationals to conduct employment activities, including hands-on work, for up to three months for an employer in Morocco. The STWA will make it easier for foreign nationals to perform urgent, short-term work for an employer in Morocco, as the administrative requirements are less cumbersome than obtaining a long-term work permit.

Order of the Minister of Labor No. 1356-19 adjusting the model of the employment contract for foreigners

The Minister of Labour issued an ordinance on the issuance of a new model for the employment contract of foreigners in Morocco while allowing the employer and employee the flexibility to include in the contract specific clauses containing additional economic or social guarantees or advantages. Article 4 of the ordinance postulates that in accordance with the provisions of article 516 of Law no. 65-99, the employer undertakes to inform the government authority responsible for labour affairs about any modification occurring on the contract, which it submits for visa application. The new ordinance repeals the decree of the Minister of Labour and Professional Training No. 350-05 of 2005.

The "National Strategy for Moroccans Living Abroad" (Stratégie nationale en faveur des Marocains du Monde) was launched in 2014. The strategy was developed in the context of the new Migration and Asylum Policy, initiated in September 2013 by King Mohammed VI and adopted in 2014. The strategy has three strategic objectives: Preserving the identity of Moroccans Living Abroad, protecting the rights and interests of Moroccans Living Abroad, and encouraging Moroccans Living Abroad contributions to the development of the country. It focuses on mobilizing the skills of Moroccans Living Abroad, attracting their investment and improving their access to public services.
