Saudi Arabia signed a memorandum of understanding with Indonesia regarding the recruitment and protection of Indonesia domestic workers in Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia signed an agreement with the Philippines regarding labour migration, especially in regards to standard employment contracts for domestic workers, payment of their wages directly into bank accounts and establishing mechanisms for 24-hour assistance. The agreement was signed in 2013, ratified in 2014, and entered into force on 7 May 2015. This agreement was seen as a significant milestone in the field of labor cooperation and in the protection and promotion of the rights of Household Service Workers, especially because this was the first agreement on domestic worker recruitment to be concluded in the region. In fact, this agreemnt has been used as a template in negotiating similar agreements with GCC countries.
Decision No. 310 establishes working conditions for domestic workers and stipulates that employers must pay domestic workers their monthly salary without delay, and give them one day off a week, at least nine hours of rest per day and proper accommodation. It also states that domestic workers must respect Islam and respect Saudi norms and culture.
Decision No. 406 concerning special arrangements for the children of Saudi women married to foreigners grants the right for Saudi women to sponsor the residence of their children and spouses, allowing them to the rights and benefits of Saudi nationals in terms of education, medical care, and employment.
Ministerial Decision No. 2833 implements Article 141 of the Labour Law (Royal Decree M/51) regarding work injuries.
Royal Decree No. M/11 states that healthcare is to be provided to non-Saudis according to the Cooperative Health Insurance Law and its subsequent implementing legislation.
Royal Decree M/33 establishes an Occupational Hazards Branch which provides benefits in cases of employment injuries.
The purpose of Law No. 71 is to provide and regulate healthcare to all non-Saudi residents.
