The legal regulation of the work of migrant domestic workers and their equivalents under Regulation No. 64 of 2020 aims to regulate the enjoyment of rights under the law, such as working hours, weekly, annual and sick leave, and other rights.
Iraq's National Strategy for Migration Management, formulated in 2020, is a comprehensive framework designed to address migration issues in line with the Global Compact for Migration and Iraq's National Development Plan for 2030. The strategy aims to provide sustainable solutions for both internal and external displacement and migration. Key aspects of the strategy include Developing a national policy framework: This involves creating policies that ensure the rights of migrants and facilitate regular return for those whose asylum applications have been rejected. Improving migration data collection: The strategy highlights the need for a centralized system for migration data to better understand the distribution and status of migrants within and outside Iraq. Supporting the return of displaced individuals: The strategy includes programs and activities to facilitate the safe, voluntary, and dignified return of internally displaced persons (IDPs) to their areas of origin.
Based on the decisions of the Council of Ministers on 31 March 2020 relating to the return of the Lebanese expatriates from abroad, the land borders with Syria will be opened through the Al Masnaa and Aboudieh border centers on 8-10 September 2020 from 9:00 until 16:00 for Lebanese and their family members.
The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship announced the extension of the exemption for “violators of the law of entry and residence of foreigners” and the extension starts from 18/8/2020 to 11/17/2020 whenever the violation occurred before 1/3/2020 and includes exempting them from all fines imposed on them, provided they leave the country.

A new committee was created by the Office of the Prime Minister for the purposes of assuring the protection of the legal and human rights of migrants in the country. This committee is led by the Ministry of Interior’s Immigration, Passport and Naturalization Authority.
